NewJeans has once again made an impressive achievement by being scheduled to appear as headliners or main stars at Japan's biggest New Year's Eve celebration festival. Quoting from Allkpop on Wednesday November 6, 2024, NewJeans is scheduled to appear as the main star for the New Year's Eve celebration entitled 'Countdown Japan 2425.'
The festival will be held on December 28-31, 2024. Located at Makuhari Messe, Tokyo. NewJeans will perform at Japan's largest New Year's festival on December 31, 2024. Meanwhile, since 2003, the New Year's festival 'Countdown Japan' has been recorded as the largest indoor year-end festival, successfully attracting around 130,000 visitors last year.
The festival is known for featuring a lineup of big Japanese artists. This year, in addition to inviting NewJeans as the headliner, the festival will also be enlivened by performances from Creepy Nuts, Vaundy, Man With A Mission, and SixTONES.
NewJeans join the festival following their impressive performance at the Summer Sonic event held in August, solidifying their global popularity and strong influence in the Japanese music scene. In 2024, NewJeans officially debuted in Japan through their single album titled 'Supernatural' which was released last June 2024.
This album also sold more than 1 million copies, and broke records on several music charts both locally and globally. Not stopping there, NewJeans also made another cool achievement by becoming the fastest foreign artist to appear on the Tokyo Dome concert stage.
In just 1 year and 11 months after their debut, the group from ADOR agency managed to sell out tickets for their fan meeting titled 'Bunnies Camp 2024 Tokyo Dome.' Attracting around 91,200 fans. Amidst the feud between Min Hee Jin, former CEO of ADOR, and their parent company, HYBE Labels.
Reports regarding HYBE Labels' internal documents leaking and causing various controversies, NewJeans proved their global achievements and were unaffected by the current issues. They were also recently officially appointed as global brand ambassadors for the popular Indonesian instant noodle product, Indomie.
