Park Jung Min was a guest star on singer Jung Jae Hyung's YouTube program on December 1, 2024. On that occasion, the actor revealed the reason why he did not want his future child to become a celebrity. He also revealed his experience in the entertainment industry.
The video initially shows Jung Min sharing that his mother had doubts about his career choice. However, his mother is now more than just proud of her son. Jung Min was asked how he would react if his son wanted to debut as an actor.
“Then, imagine this scenario: what if you had a child, and that child wanted to be a celebrity?” Jae Hyung asked. Jung Min was silent at first, frowned, and then said, “I would hate that so much.” Jung Min then revealed the reason he hated the possibility of his son debuting as an actor.
"As you know, the reality of this job is very different from what it looks like," he said. In fact, the life of an actor is not as easy as people imagine. "People mostly think of successful people when they think of celebrities. However, everyone in this industry started from the bottom and worked their way up.
I don't want the people I love to experience that," Jung Min continued. Jung Min was then asked to describe the struggles he mentioned. The actor then talked about his early days as an actor. "I think this can happen in every profession out there. For me, the hardest part was the insults," the actor replied.
"Because I didn't become a star right after my debut, I've had a lot of experiences along the way. I've gone through small insults, like being ignored when I say hello and being scolded when I don't say hello, to being treated like I don't exist," he recalled.
Jung Min recalled being asked to wait 24 hours on set, but was eventually told to go home because there would be no filming for his scene. "I've seen and experienced many cases like that," said BLACKPINK Jisoo's co-star in the drama "Newtopia."
Jung Min feels that the situation would definitely be worse for many aspiring actors. "Being hated not by the public, but by people in the industry would be the most heartbreaking and upsetting thing for me as a parent if my child went through the same thing," he said.
Meanwhile, Jung Min made his debut with the film "Bleak Night" in 2011. He began to gain recognition with his performance in the film "Dongju; The Portrait of a Poet" in 2016. Jung Min is currently promoting the film "Harbin" which will hit theaters on December 25, 2024.
