Park Sung Hoon has spoken out about the controversy he created via Instagram. He uploaded an adult poster that was a parody of the Squid Game 2 series. Sung Hoon shared a photo on Instagram Story that he deleted a few minutes later.
However, the post had already gone viral and made him the center of controversy. Park Sung Hoon recently spoke out about his position and explained the background of the Instagram Story. He admitted that he received the photo from a netizen via a private message on Instagram.
"I came here with a heavy heart and more nervous than ever. I am truly sorry for causing harm to the hard-working production team," Park Sung Hoon was quoted as saying by the Korea Economic Daily. “I found the problematic photo in my DM when I went to lunch. I thought it was a shocking photo and could cause problems.
I think I accidentally uploaded it when I was about to send it,” he explained. Park Sung Hoon believes he did not watch the adult video of the parody of the series. However, he feels sorry that it has become a controversy in the midst of a series that is currently popular with viewers. “I, of course, didn’t watch the video.
I also don’t have another account so it wasn’t a mistake to upload the photo on a different account,” Park Sung Hoon defended. "I regret and blame myself for my mistake. I will continue my acting career with a heavy heart, being careful with my words and actions so that this kind of thing does not happen again," he said.
He also has not spoken to director Hwang Dong Hyuk regarding this controversy, but he responded with an official statement through his agency. Park Sung Hoon plays Cho Hyeon Ju in Squid Game 2. Hyeon Ju is a transgender woman who struggles to earn money for surgery.
