SEVENTEEN's Mingyu's solo song Shake It Off will definitely not be aired on KBS after it was declared to have failed censorship. The song is one of the tracks on SEVENTEEN's fifth full album titled " HAPPY BURSTDAY ," which will be released on May 26, 2025.
Unfortunately, the song had to accept the “unfit for broadcast” status from the KBS Music Evaluation Committee. According to IZE's confirmation on May 21, 2025, the song "Shake It Off" from SEVENTEEN's fifth full album, "HAPPY BURSTDAY," was declared unfit for broadcast by KBS in the evaluation results released that day.
This assessment indicates that the song does not meet applicable broadcast standards, especially in terms of lyrical content. The song "Shake It Off" itself is a solo song performed by Mingyu and is composed with a groovy tech house feel , according to a statement from the Pledis Entertainment agency.
This song is one of a total of 16 songs on the album, including three group songs and 13 solo songs from each SEVENTEEN member. The album title "HAPPY BURSTDAY" combines the words Birthday and Burst, reflecting the spirit of change and strong emotional expression.
The reason KBS rejected the song was because the lyrics contained swear words, coarse language, and expressions that were considered vulgar. However, the agency can still submit the song again for re-evaluation, after revising the problematic lyrics.
If the revision is approved and the song is deemed fit for broadcast, then "Shake It Off" can be broadcast on KBS programs, both TV and radio. In addition to "Shake It Off," several songs by other artists were also declared to have failed censorship by KBS in the same announcement.
Among them are RED's "DIAMONDS", Kim Seungmin's Town, as well as several songs from DPR CREAM, DPR ARITC, and VVS. This rejection shows that KBS continues to strictly monitor the lyrical content of music broadcast to the public.
