Fantagio, the agency that manages actor Kim Seon Ho, announced on August 19, 2025 that it would take a firm stance regarding deepfake crimes involving the actor. The agency revealed that recently there have been cases on social media where several parties have used deepfake videos and pretended to be Kim Seon Ho to ask for money.
Highlighting the seriousness of the situation, Fantagio stated, “Actions such as impersonating Kim Seon Ho and spreading false information using deepfake technology are clearly violations of the law.” Fantagio reaffirmed its commitment to cracking down on the production and distribution of deepfake content.
"We will continue to conduct ongoing monitoring and take firm action against this type of illegal activity," the agency stated. The agency also warned Kim Seon Ho's fans to remain vigilant. "We ask fans to be careful not to fall victim to this type of scam," they added.
Deepfake technology, which uses artificial intelligence to manipulate images and videos, is increasingly being misused to create explicit content and fake news, causing widespread harm. Meanwhile, Kim Seon Ho is preparing to greet the audience again through his latest projects, including the Netflix original series titled “Can This Love Be Translated?”.
