Lucas, a former NCT member, has officially ended his career with SM Entertainment. The news was announced directly by the agency via the fan communication platform, Weverse, on April 24, 2026.
In an official statement, SM Entertainment announced that Lucas' contract with the artist had expired that same day. The agency also offered a warm farewell message and expressed appreciation for Lucas's hard work over the years under their wing.
"We would like to inform you that the exclusive contract between the company and Lucas has expired on April 24, 2026. We will continue to cherish the time we have spent with Lucas from his trainee days to the various activities he has shown after his debut, and we support the other challenges he will undertake in the future," the agency wrote.
SM Entertainment also asked fans to continue to provide positive support for the singer's new steps. They hope the public will view Lucas's new beginning with a warm outlook, ensuring his continued independent career in the entertainment industry.
Lucas first began his career in the South Korean music industry by joining NCT in 2018. His fame skyrocketed and he was active in various sub-units and group projects. However, his career was halted due to a personal controversy that led to a lengthy hiatus.
In 2023, Lucas officially announced his retirement from NCT and WayV to pursue a solo career before finally deciding to part ways with SM Entertainment completely this year.
