Streaming platform TVING, in collaboration with production house YLAB Plex, officially announced that the TVING original series 'Study Group' will return for a second season.
Hwang Min Hyun is also confirmed to reprise his role as the main character, Yoon Ga Min, further fueling fan enthusiasm. 'Study Group' is a school-themed action comedy drama adapted from the popular webtoon by Shin Hyung Wook.
The story follows Yoon Ga Min (Hwang Min Hyun), a student more talented at fighting than studying, as he forms a study group amidst the fierce competition for university entrance at a school with a bad reputation.
The first season, which premiered last January 2025, was a huge success, topping TVING's new subscriber list for five consecutive weeks. The drama also achieved global popularity, attracting viewers from 143 countries, demonstrating its potential as global content.
YLAB stated, "We are very pleased that 'Study Group' has been recognized for both its popularity and quality. In the second season, we will focus on expanding this IP to make it a super IP."
Furthermore, Wylab also plans to expand its fan interaction through various collaborations. On August 8, 2025, the Yuseong. High School jackets worn by the characters in the drama garnered significant interest through a crowdfunding project in just three days.
This coming October, the collaborative cafe "Study Group" will open for a month, and a pop-up booth will also be featured at the 2025 World Webtoon Festival at Lotte World Mall.
Hwang Min Hyun, who is currently serving his mandatory military service as a social service worker since March 2024, completed filming for the first season before enlisting.
The popularity of "Study Group" means his presence remains felt even while he's serving. After his discharge on December 20, 2025, he is scheduled to immediately begin filming for the second season.
