South Korean actor Lee Soo Hyuk made headlines after holding his first fan meeting in Hangzhou, China. What was supposed to be a special occasion instead sparked controversy after it lasted for 12 hours without a break.
The Korean drama star, "S Line," is suspected of being exploited by his agency and fan meeting organizers. The workload imposed on Lee Soo Hyuk is considered inhumane, raising netizen concerns about his health.
According to a report by Taiwanese media outlet EBC on Wednesday (September 3, 2025), Lee Soo Hyuk's agency Saram Entertainment sold out tickets for his fan meeting. The actor even had to sign autographs for thousands of fans over dozens of hours in China.
The atmosphere at Lee Soo Hyuk's fan meeting venue was also reportedly unsuitable, with the air conditioning broken. The 37-year-old actor was even seen sweating profusely, to the point that his white shirt was soaked.
Furthermore, EBC reported that Lee Soo Hyuk also showed signs of fatigue. "I can't imagine how hard it must be for him... he must be so exhausted," commented a worried netizen on a Korean community forum.
"Oh my gosh... 12 hours?" wrote another netizen, shocked by the length of Lee Soo Hyuk's fan meeting in China. "What's the point of having an agency?" another netizen chimed in, mocking Lee Soo Hyuk's agency. Following the ongoing criticism, Saram Entertainment finally released an official statement.
Lee Soo Hyuk's agency expressed regret over the incident and promised to improve its management of the actor's fan meetings in the future. Saram Entertainment stated that they did not anticipate the situation that occurred during the fan meeting in China.
They hoped that the situation would not undermine Lee Soo Hyuk's "sincerity," as he tried to create meaningful memories for his thousands of fans. "First of all, we sincerely thank all the fans who have shown their interest in the 'Lee Soo Hyuk 1st Fan Meeting in Hangzhou.'"
"We believe that every moment shared by our fans and artists is special and precious. Therefore, we deeply regret the situation that occurred during (Lee Soo Hyuk's) fan meeting due to unforeseen circumstances."
"We sincerely hope that the sincerity of our artists who have tried their best despite the circumstances, and the fans who came out of love for our artists will not be lost because of this issue," said Saram Entertainment in a statement.
Meanwhile, Lee Soo Hyuk has accepted an offer to star in the Korean drama Men of the Harem. In the fantasy-romance drama, Lee Soo Hyuk plays one of Suzy's handsome concubines, alongside Shin Seung Ho, Dex, Kim Dan, and Yoo Jung Hoo.
