South Korean actress Kim Ji Mee has passed away. She took her last breath at the age of 85. According to the Korea JoongAng Daily, Kim Ji Mee passed away in the United States. Official sources said she had recently been suffering from shingles.

Due to the disease, her health continued to decline. Furthermore, at 85 years old, Kim Ji Mee experienced complications. Throughout her career, Kim Ji Mee has appeared in over 700 films. She began her acting career during the Korean War (1950–1953).

Kim Ji Mee was born Kim Myeong Ja in 1940. Her birthplace is currently known as Daedeok District, in the Daejeon area. She made her screen debut in 1957 in the film Twilight Train, directed by Kim Ki Young. 

From then until the 1990s, she appeared in over 700 films. Kim Ji Mee has also appeared in films by renowned South Korean filmmakers. She appeared in Kim Soo Yong's The Land (1974) and Im Kwon Taek's Gilsottum (1986).

During her lifetime, Kim Ji Mee received awards at the Panama International Film Festival and The Grand Bell Awards. In 2010, she was labeled as Glamorous Actress by the Korean Filmmakers Welfare Foundation.

Before her death, Kim Ji Mee was also active in the Korean Film Council. She also founded a production company outside of her acting career. Currently, the South Korean actors/actresses association is preparing a funeral for Kim Ji Mee.
