Veteran actress Kim Ji Mee reportedly passed away on Wednesday (December 10, 2025). The South Korean actress passed away at the age of 85 after deteriorating health due to shingles.
The Korean Film Artists Federation is reportedly preparing a memorial plaque for Kim Ji Mee, who was known to have been active in the Korean film industry for more than 60 years.
Kim Ji Mee is known as one of Korea's legendary actresses, having made her debut in the 1957 film Twilight Train. Born in 1940, the actress starred in over 700 films through the 1990s.
For her outstanding performances in various films, Kim Ji Me also won awards for Best Actress at international award events such as the Panama International Film Festival and the Grand Bell Awards.
She later founded the production company Jimmy Film and became a member of the Korean Film Council. In 2010, the actress was also inducted into the Film Hall of Fame as a 'Gorgeous Actress'.
Kim Ji Mee has reportedly passed away in the United States after undergoing treatment for shingles. The veteran actress's passing has left a profound loss for her family and the Korean film industry.
