Byeon Woo Seok is ready to claim his crown. The South Korean actor is set to return to the small screen in MBC’s upcoming Friday–Saturday drama Perfect Crown, scheduled to premiere in April 2026.

In the series, Byeon Woo Seok takes on the role of Prince Yian, a royal figure defined by status alone—and barred from having anything else. Prince Yian is the late king’s only younger brother, born into a position where he must never shine too brightly or raise his voice.

Forced to live quietly within the rigid boundaries of the royal family, he has learned to hide his true self. Yet to the public, he is adored as “the most beloved royal in Korea,” praised for his striking looks, natural authority and unmistakable charisma.

Following the deaths of his father and older brother, Prince Yian becomes regent for his young nephew, who unexpectedly ascends the throne. While he effectively runs the royal household from behind the scenes, opposition forces grow stronger, watching his every move with suspicion.

That delicate balance is disrupted when Prince Yian receives an unexpected proposal—a contract marriage offer from Seong Hui Ju, a chaebol heiress born into a commoner family, played by IU. What begins as a calculated arrangement soon sends ripples through his carefully controlled world.

Newly released stills offer a glimpse of Byeon Woo Seok as the nation’s favorite royal. Dressed in tailored suits, reading or working in silence, Prince Yian exudes elegance even in moments of rest. His steady gaze, never losing its quiet glow, captures the refined dignity expected of royalty, and then some.

After rewriting the image of the devoted romantic lead in Lovely Runner, Byeon Woo Seok now pivots to an entirely different fantasy. In Perfect Crown, he leans into an untouchable, modern-day prince aura, promising a performance that blends restraint, authority and emotional depth.

Set in a 21st-century Korea governed by a constitutional monarchy, Perfect Crown tells the story of two people trapped by status in opposite ways: a woman who has everything except noble blood, and a man who has royal blood but nothing else. The series premieres in April 2026 on MBC.
