BTS officially released the first trailer for their latest documentary, 'BTS: THE RETURN'. The video was uploaded via the group's official social media accounts and Netflix on March 17, 2026 at 8:00 a.m. KST, sparking huge enthusiasm from fans worldwide.
This documentary will specifically highlight the creative process and the long journey behind the creation of their fifth studio album, "ARIRANG." Through this footage, viewers are invited to witness a narrative that deeply encapsulates BTS's past, present, and vision for the future.
The trailer features a series of emotional moments, from iconic world tour footage, the warm atmosphere of the members' return from military service, to intensive songwriting sessions held in Los Angeles, United States.
During the production process, the members reflected on their musical direction by stating that because trends are constantly changing, they cannot continue to do the same thing and must be brave enough to take steps to change now.
Interestingly, despite their massive global success, they still emphasize their identity as young Koreans. This is reflected in the use of the traditional song "Arirang" as background music in the trailer, which is paired with a touching narrative about returning to where you belong.
Besides the professional side in the studio, this documentary will also show the members' daily lives and how inspiration from ordinary life is transformed into magnificent musical works.
The project is being directed by acclaimed director Bao Nguyen, who previously directed the Grammy-nominated Netflix documentary 'The Greatest Night in Pop'. The documentary 'BTS: THE RETURN' is scheduled to premiere globally on Netflix on March 27, 2026.
