Byeon Woo Seok is building anticipation for his next role and giving fans a glimpse of what’s to come. The South Korean actor stars as Prince Yian in MBC’s upcoming drama Perfect Crown, premiering April 10, 3036.
Set in a modern constitutional monarchy, the series follows a romance between a wealthy heiress and a prince who, despite his status, feels he has nothing. Ahead of the premiere, Byeon Woo Seok shared, “I’m really excited to greet viewers with a new character for the first time in a while.
I’m grateful for all the interest, and I want to show an even better side of myself.” He said the role immediately stood out. “When I first read the script, I could clearly picture myself as Prince Yian and felt emotionally connected to him. I knew right away I wanted to be part of this.”
Prince Yian, the royal family’s second son, has spent his life hiding himself. Describing him, Byeon chose the keywords “lonely,” “noble,” and “loved by the people.” “In public, he never loses his composure and maintains the dignity and integrity expected of royalty,” he explained.
“He may seem like he has everything, but within the palace, he doesn’t truly have a place where he feels at ease. Still, he receives a lot of love and attention from the public—the most loved royal.” To capture that contrast, he focused on subtle shifts in emotion.
“Because he’s so loved, there’s jealousy and envy surrounding him. He can be kind to some, but cold to others. Since he can’t afford to show weakness, I spent a lot of time thinking about his relationships and expressing those subtle emotions.”
On the romance, he added, “I focused on the narrative already written in the script. I truly believe that alone is enough to create a deeper, more compelling love story for Prince Yian.”
He described the series as “a story where you can watch how each character makes choices within this unique setting of a 21st-century constitutional monarchy—and what consequences those choices bring,” adding, “The changing relationships between the characters will also be a key point to watch.
Visually, there’s a lot to enjoy too, from the art and sets to the costumes.” Perfect Crown premieres April 10, 2026 at 9:40 PM KST, with Byeon Woo Seok also set to appear on Hangout with Yoo in early April to promote the drama.
