Cha Eun Woo has once again become the subject of controversy due to his photo exhibition. Recently, he was reported to be holding a photo exhibition titled "Afterimage," which will take place in Ginza, Tokyo, from March 28 to May 12, 2026.

This news emerged as Cha Eun Woo was dealing with a tax fraud case involving himself and his agency. Fantagio's agency also explained and confirmed that the show was indeed staged.

"This performance is a project that has been ongoing since the contract was signed in August 2024 and is being carried out according to the schedule agreed upon at that time," said Fantagio, Cha Eun Woo's agency.

Because the artist is currently serving his mandatory military service, he was unable to attend the performance. The agency also did not explain the status of his tax case.

Previously, on January 22, 2026, Cha Eun Woo was investigated for tax evasion totaling 20 billion won. He and his family allegedly established a covert company to avoid paying a larger total tax, violating South Korean tax regulations.

The tax payments are based on the artist's own income. Cha Eun Woo is said to have minimized his tax payments by establishing several companies because corporate taxes are lower than individual taxes.

In his letter, he apologized to the public for the hardship this situation has caused fans. He also assured that he would participate in any future tax procedures. "Moreover, I will wisely accept the decision of the relevant authorities and be responsible," said the True Beauty actor.

"The issue under discussion is at the fact-finding stage and is being examined in accordance with procedures by the tax authorities, and both the agency and the artist are fully cooperating with the investigation required by both parties," Fantagio said.
