Korean actor Kim Young Dae recently announced he will begin his mandatory military service in April 2026. Not long after, he was hit with dating rumors with actress Lee Naeun. Local media reported that Kim Young Dae and Lee Naeun have recently become romantically involved.
They have been seen spending time together on several occasions. They first became close when they starred together in the MBC drama Extraordinary You (2019). After the project concluded, their relationship remained strong and reportedly blossomed into a romance. The agency immediately denied the allegations.
OUTER UNIVERSE, Kim Young Dae's management, said they were just close friends. Lee Naeun's management, Namoo Actors, confirmed the denial on Thursday (March 26, 2026). The dating rumors surfaced a day after the Dear X (2025) actor announced his military enlistment.
His agency announced he would enlist in April 2026. "He will be serving as an active duty soldier starting in April," said OUTER UNIVERSE. Therefore, the actor, born on March 2, 1996, will be taking a temporary hiatus from the entertainment industry. His mandatory military service will end in October 2027.
In an interview, Kim Young Dae discussed his military enlistment plans, calling it both an obligation and a short break in his long career in the entertainment industry. "After I finish, I want to take on a more challenging, ambitious role, and I will do it well," he said.
Meanwhile, Lee Naeun is a member of the K-Pop group APRIL and is also active in acting. After her idol career ended, she chose to pursue acting, appearing in projects such as A-Teen (2018), Flex X Cop (2024), and The Defects (2025).
