South Korean singer and actor Cha Eun Woo has finally spoken out again regarding his tax case. After initially remaining silent and unexplained, he has now issued a new statement explaining several things.
On January 22, 2026, Cha Eun Woo was reportedly investigated in 2025 for alleged tax evasion and was asked to pay an additional 20 billion Won in taxes. On Wednesday, April 8, 2026, the True Beauty actor stated that he had paid the additional tax and issued an apology.
"This is Cha Eun Woo. I sincerely apologize to my fans and everyone for the disappointment and confusion caused by the tax controversy involving me," Cha Eun Woo wrote on his Instagram account.
"Due to ongoing administrative procedures, I must be cautious in expressing my position, and I apologize once again for the delay in speaking. Although it's late, I want to share my opinion and stance now, personally," he continued.
Cha Eun Woo further emphasized, "I have paid the full amount of the taxes due. I will also be prudent with the remaining procedures. Having received so much support and love, I am taking this news seriously and reflecting on it." “I will not avoid responsibility by saying “I don’t know” or “That’s someone else’s decision,” he said.
In the statement, he admitted that he started the company because of significant changes in his career. He intended to establish the company to stabilize his activities, but there were many aspects he didn't understand but that should have been his responsibility.
"To ensure something like that doesn't happen, I will be more assertive and careful in all my future activities. I will continue to strive to be someone who takes responsibility for my choices," he added. Currently, Cha Eun Woo is fulfilling his mandatory military service since July 2025.
