Taemin successfully made new history by becoming the first Korean male soloist to perform on the stage of the biggest music festival in the United States, the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival.
The SHINee member captivated the Mojave stage on Saturday (April 11, 2026). For approximately 50 minutes, Taemin delivered an intense and theatrical solo performance for thousands of fans packed into Indio, California.
The performance opened with a dramatic visual element featuring a giant egg-shaped structure called the "Sphere." Through this action, Taemin performed a symbolic choreography of "breaking the shell" to represent a message of liberation from oppression.
In the opening segment, he performed hit songs such as 'Sexy In The Air' and 'WANT', as well as new songs 'Permission' and 'PARASITE'. One of the main highlights was the performance of "PARASITE," a new English-language song that explores the theme of hatred in modern society.
The use of projectors to project lyrics and quotes onto Taemin's body and the entire stage was considered a highly effective blend of the aesthetics of Korean characters and the song's message.
Not only did he perform iconic songs like 'MOVE', 'Guilty', and 'Advice', Taemin surprised everyone by performing a total of six new, previously unreleased songs, including 'Frankenstein', 'Sober', and '1004 (Oct 4th)'.
This decision demonstrates the artist's high confidence in exploring his musicality on the international stage. After completing his performance, Taemin expressed his emotion and gratitude through his agency Galaxy Corporation.
"I've been looking forward to this moment of standing on the Coachella stage for a long time. I'm so happy to be able to share this time with so many people today. I will repay your support with even better music and performances in the future," said Taemin.
This success marks a significant milestone for Taemin's solo career on the global stage. After a successful first week, Taemin is scheduled to return to the Coachella stage for a second week on April 18, 2026.
