SBS will soon air their latest drama, Flex X Cop Season 2. Ahead of the premiere, the drama's press conference held on Tuesday (August 4, 2026) in Seoul revealed a number of interesting facts, including the reason behind Yoo Seung Ho's special appearance as a villain.
The press conference was attended by director Kim Jae Hong and the main cast, Ahn Bo Hyun, Jung Eun Chae, Kang Sang Jun, and Kim Shin Bi. They discussed various aspects of the drama, which will premiere on August 7, 2026.
Flex X Cop Season 2 follows the story of Jin Yi Soo (played by Ahn Bo Hyun) who uses his wealth and connections like a cheat code, and senior detective Joo Hye Ra (played by Jung Eun Chae) who work together to bring down increasingly cunning criminals.
On that occasion, director Kim Jae Hong was asked about the casting process for the cameos in the drama. He laughed and admitted that his approach was similar to that of Jin Yi Soo's character in the drama.
"Just as Jin Yi Soo used all her money and connections to solve the cases in the drama, we took the same approach to casting. We begged, made countless requests, and even tapped Ahn Bo Hyun's personal connections to get everyone cast," said Kim Jae Hong.
In particular, he also discussed Yoo Seung Ho, who will make a special appearance as the villain Yoo Sung Won. Kim Jae Hong revealed that the character has rich depth and plays a crucial role in the second half of the story.
"He's a richly layered character and plays a crucial role in the second half of the story," he explained. Kim Jae Hong then explained the process behind Yoo Seung Ho's selection for the role. It turns out he had previously worked with the handsome actor in the drama My Strange Hero .
"Everyone put a lot of thought into this casting. I worked with Yoo Seung Ho in the drama My Strange Hero , and while reading the script, I kept thinking, 'This role would be difficult for anyone but Yoo Seung Ho to play.' So I personally contacted him," said Kim Jae Hong.
Interestingly, Yoo Seung Ho appeared more frequently than originally planned. Although he was originally scheduled to appear in the middle to the latter half of the drama, he actually appeared quite frequently from the beginning.
"This is a special appearance with quite a lot of screen time. We originally planned to have him appear for the first time in the middle to the latter half of the drama, but once we started filming, we realized it would be impossible to hide such a handsome face.
So we instead had him appear frequently from the beginning," he added with a smile. Flex X Cop Season 2 is scheduled to premiere on August 7, 2026. The drama will also be available for streaming on Disney+.
Yoo Seung Ho's appearance as the villain is certainly one of the drama's main attractions. Fans are certainly eager to see him in action alongside Ahn Bo Hyun and the rest of the cast.
Meanwhile, the first season of Flex X Cop achieved popularity and satisfactory ratings. The second season is expected to maintain and even surpass that success with a more exciting storyline and exciting surprises in each episode.
