Unpleasant news has returned from the boy group NCT. After announcing Lucas' departure from the members of NCT and WayV, SM Entertainment returned with similar news. Quoting from the official NCT Twitter account on Wednesday May 24, 2023, SM Entertainment officially announced that Shotaro and Sungchan would no longer be part of the NCT group.

The two are rumored to be making their debut as members of SM's new boy group outside of NCT. The following is an official statement from SM Entertainment regarding the status of Sungchan and Shotaro as members of NCT. "Hello, this is SM Entertainment, we want to express our deep gratitude to the fans who have loved NCT.

Here is our statement regarding the future plans of the members of Sungchan and Shotaro," said SM Entertainment. They continued, "As members of NCT, Sungchan and Shotaro have performed admirably. However, unfortunately, they will no longer be part of NCT, and will debut as members of a new boy group that is planned to debut in 2023."

"We want to sincerely apologize to the fans who have been waiting for their debut as part of the new NCT unit," he added. The agency also said that after having long and in-depth discussions with Sungchan and Shotaro in preparing for SM 3.0, they have decided to make a decision that reflects the opinions of the artists, the artistic direction and the music of each group.

SM Entertainment further explained that NCT's newest unit group will be NCT's final sub-unit and end their system of unlimited expansion. To that end they plan to launch a distinct group that truly represents a regional identity. In line with this plan, SM Entertainment will increase the number of members from Japan, and will introduce them one by one, and share their debut journey with fans.

SM Entertainment confirmed that they will continue to provide support to Sungchan and Shotaro, as well as other NCT members, and asked fans to continue to provide support for the activities of Sungchan, Shotaro, and the NCT members in the future. What do you think?
