Fans of the scifi genre full of suspense will probably like the Korean film " The Moon " (2023). This film, produced by director Kim Yong Hwa—the mastermind behind the film "Along With the Gods" is indeed very interesting to watch. As the title suggests, "The Moon" tells the story of astronauts who want to set foot on the moon.
After 5 years after the accident that blew up the plane, South Korea finally sent its astronauts into space again. They are Hwang Sun Woo (EXO's D.O), Lee Sang Won (Kim Rae Won), and Cho Yoon Jong (Lee Yi Kyung). However, conflict comes when the solar wind puts the astronaut in danger and brings death to Sang Woon and Yoon Jong.
Sun Woo, as the only surviving crew member and the youngest, finally tries to survive amidst the tense conditions in outer space. Even though he was not as skilled as the rest of the crew, he had courage and the help of former space center director Jae Guk (Sol Kyung Gu) and Yoon Moo-young (Kim Hee ae), NASA's director of lunar orbit, so he continued the mission and tried to return to earth in a short time. safe condition.
This film was filled with adrenaline, as the shadow of previous failed flights loomed large over me. There are also many uncertain things that might happen. Because the lunar environment is certainly very different from that on earth. So this situation makes the intensity of the story full of anxiety. D.O's acting in this film really deserves a thumbs up.
.
Also the team on earth, even though at first they seemed to have lost hope, they continued to try to face this problem together. This of course cannot be separated from the role of Yoon Moo-young who is on the NASA team. This help from his ex-wife made Jae Guk optimistic again about bringing Sun Woo home safely and not wanting to repeat his mistake 5 years ago.
Overall, there isn't much to review about "The Moon". Because the visual effects, editing, acting, plot and chemistry of the characters are almost perfect. The audience feels like they are actually in outer space and accompany Sung Woo to survive. This film deserves a score of 9/10, being one of the best-selling Korean films in Indonesia, and has won several awards at film festivals.
