The latest Korean film titled ' Love in the Big City ' starring Kim Go Eun and Noh Sang Hyun has confirmed its release date. 'Love in the Big City' tells the story of two people with different personalities who live in one house. Jae Hee (Kim Go Eun) is a person who is indifferent and never cares what other people think about her.
On the other hand, Heung Soo (Noh Sang Hyun) is a man who hides the secret of his birth. This romantic genre film is based on the best-selling novel by Park Sang Young entitled 'Daedoshiui Sarangbeob' which was published in 2019.
Interestingly, the film is directed by Lee Eon Hee, the director behind the successful films 'The Accidental Detective 2: In Action', 'Missing', and 'Love Exposure', as well as the Korean drama 'The Killer's Shopping List'. 'Love in the Big City' is scheduled to be officially released in theaters on October 2, 2024, after premiering at the 49th Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) on September 13, 2024.
The film will join the Special Presentation lineup, which showcases new films by renowned directors and actors. The category previously featured such hits as Bong Joon Ho's 'Mother' and 'Parasite', as well as Park Chan Wook's 'The Handmaiden'.
TIFF Senior International Programmer Giovanna Fulvi heaped praise on 'Love in the Big City'. "'Love in the Big City' convincingly captures the journey of an individual searching for himself in the context of societal norms," said Giovanna as quoted by Soompi on Tuesday July 23, 2024.
He continued, "With Lee Eon Hee's direction and Kim Go Eun and Noh Sang Hyun's acting skills, the film explores emotional resonance, youth, identity, and the complexities of love with a charming and fresh perspective.” Meanwhile, the released preview photos show some touching moments between Jae Hee and Heung Soo.
Jae Hee and Heung Soo lie side by side on a playground slide while in another photo, they are drinking together but appear emotionally distant. Jae Hee stares blankly into the air while Heung Soo looks down at the drinks table. The audience is also increasingly impatient to witness the romantic chemistry between Kim Go Eun and Noh Sang Hyun.
