BTS's Suga responded to the police summons regarding the drunk driving or driving under influence (DUI) case on Friday August 23, 2024. The owner of the full name Min Yoongi arrived at the Yongsan Police Station, Seoul, at around 19:45 KST.
He arrived after completing his military duties at the public service office. Upon arriving at the police station, Suga approached the media crew and apologized. While bowing his head, Suga admitted that he regretted disappointing his fans.
"First of all, I'm very sorry. I'm really sorry for disappointing many fans and many people," Suga said, as quoted by Koreaboo. "I will undergo the examination obediently. Once again I apologize," he added. The case began when Suga was reported to have fallen while riding an electric scooter on Hannam-dong Street.
Police questioned Suga on suspicion of drunk driving. Yongsan Police Station then conducted a breathalyzer test and found Suga's alcohol level reached 0.227 percent. That number is 7 times above the legal limit.
The news became even more exciting after JTBC uploaded CCTV footage showing a man falling off a scooter. Netizens initially thought the man was Suga. However, the next day, JTBC clarified that the man in the viral CCTV video was not Suga. Money Today's report also said that JTBC had deleted the video.
