Lee Sang Yi recently talked about his latest Korean drama titled ' No Gain No Love '. Carrying the romantic comedy genre, 'No Gain No Love' tells the story of Son Hae Young (played by Shin Min Ah), a woman who fakes her marriage because she doesn't want to suffer any losses in her life.
In this drama, Lee Sang Yi plays Bok Gyu Hyun, a rich and single CEO who doesn't believe in love. As the owner of Honeybee Education, Bok Gyu Hyun keeps a clean personal life, unlike his womanizing father. Although he avoids scandals, he is secretly interested in Nam Ja Yeon's (played by Han Ji Hyun) online web novel and often writes comments on it.
According to Lee Sang Yi, 'No Gain No Love' is one of the works that touched his heart. "In a time marked by violence and reckoning, the story of people meeting and growing together really touched my heart," said Lee Sang Yi as quoted by Soompi August 13, 2024.
He added, “I found the story of Gyu Hyun, who begins to believe in love despite not believing in it before, very interesting.” Lee Sang Yi explained that his character, Bok Gyu Hyun, has lived a life far from love and grew up believing that true love doesn’t exist. This was caused by his mother being hurt by his father’s actions.
“Although Gyu Hyun is charismatic at work, he becomes charming and foolish around his secretary and when faced with love. I found these character traits very entertaining,” added Lee Sang Yi. While playing his character, Lee Sang Yi focused on his pace and clothing while acting, showing his dedication to the role.
“Most of the suits I wear are custom made. I wanted the clean, sophisticated CEO look to stand out,” the actor said. On the other hand, 'No Gain No Love' is the latest collaboration drama between Lee Sang Yi and Shin Min Ah, who previously worked together in 'Hometown Cha Cha Cha' in 2021. “It was really fun working together again.
Last time, we were in a one-sided love scenario, but now we’re meeting as boss and employee, which is a new experience,” said Lee Sang Yi.
