Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid last graced the television screen a few years ago with an anime series, and now the series is returning with a film version. Kyoto Animation announced several big projects that they will soon be working on, one of which is a film from the anime Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid .

The film is scheduled to be released in Japan in 2025 under the title Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid: A Lonely Dragon Wants to be Loved . In this film, the character Kanna Kamui will be the main focus and lead the adventure.

Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid : A Lonely Dragon Wants to be Loved is directed by Tatsuya Ishihara, who previously directed the second season of the anime series. Several voice actors from the TV series are also confirmed to return, including Mutsumi Tamura as Kobayashi, Yuki Kuwahara as Tohru, and Maria Naganawa as Kanna.

The film is planned to be released in Japan in 2025, but there is currently no information regarding an international release schedule. If the film does well in the Japanese market, there's a good chance there will be plans for a global release, given the success of similar films in recent years.

Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid tells the story of Kobayashi, an office worker who goes about her daily routine as usual. One day she meets a big dragon who can transform into a girl dressed as a maid. The dragon is named Tohru and she feels indebted because she was once saved by Kobayashi.

Since then, Tohru offers to live with and serve Kobayashi. As time goes by, Kobayashi's life becomes more crowded with the presence of other dragons and mystical creatures. Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid is one of Kyoto Animation's long-awaited projects by fans. However, in recent years, the studio has been going through difficult times.

In 2019, Kyoto Animation was the target of an arson attack that killed more than 30 people, including several staff previously involved in the anime's production. Kyoto Animation has been through a period of mourning and recovery for the past five years. And now, the studio is ready to continue new projects as a form of respect for those who have passed away.
