BLACKPINK's Rosé and Bruno Mars ' APT. is #1 on the South Korean charts this week. The song's popularity has had a positive effect on Yoon Soo Il's old-school hit Apartment. APT. and Apartment have the same title (APT. is read as 'apateu' which means apartment).
Yoon Soo Il's song was released in 1982, is a rock genre, and was a hit at the time. Apartment was once number one on KBS's Gayo Top 10, one of the most influential music charts at the time. The song was recorded to have held the #1 position for five consecutive weeks.
Seeing his song rise again and being listened to by the younger generation, Yoon Soo Il felt grateful to Rosé and Bruno Mars. In an interview with Yonhap, reported by The Korea Times on Friday November 1, 2024, he said the song APT. has reconstructed his song.
"I'm grateful that Rosé and Bruno Mars reconstructed my song. Young people became interested in listening to my version of Apartment after listening to Rosé's APT. I'm so glad that my music can get attention along with that song," said Yoon Soo Il.
Yoon Soo Il's song Apartment is starting to show progress on the Melon chart. On social media, there are also those who combine the two songs from different generations. On the other hand, Yoon Soo Il is also proud to see Rosé succeed with her new song.
In the same interview, the senior artist congratulated the BLACKPINK member. "I congratulate Rosé, I see people all over the world enjoying APT," he concluded. APT. was released on October 18, 2024 and is Rosé's first collaboration with Bruno Mars.
The song is also the opening single for the full album 'rosie' which is planned to be released in December. After previously topping the Melon chart in South Korea and Spotify, APT.'s song has now been officially certified Perfect All-Kill. This means that the song is at #1 on all major digital streaming platforms in South Korea.
