Wi Ha Joon is known to take part in "Squid Game 2". The actor born in 1991 plays the character Hwang Jun Ho, a detective who is obsessed with finding his brother who turns out to be the Front Man (Lee Byung Hun) in the Squid Game.

Due to the popularity of the Netflix drama, Wi Ha Joon was rumored to be paid around 300 million won per episode of "Squid Game 2". The actor immediately responded to this rumor when he was interviewed by local media on January 7, 2025.

However, Wi Ha Joon denied being paid that much. "That's an unconfirmed report. It's just a rumor, and there's no way to know," said Ha Joon. Even so, the actor admitted that his pay did increase from the previous season.

"My pay has gone up compared to the first season," Ha Joon said. The actor's pay increase also seems to be due to his increased screen time in season 2. In addition, Wi Ha Joon's acting experience has increased since starring in season 1.

After his acting in "Squid Game" season 1, Wi Ha Joon continued to actively star in various works including "Bad and Crazy", "Little Women", "The Worst of Evil", "Gyeongseong Creature", and became the male lead in "The Midnight Romance in Hagwon".

"I felt like I needed to grab the opportunity when it came. Luckily, I was able to work with a great script and director. I don't do things randomly, so even though it was physically demanding, I felt like it was something I needed to do," Wi Ha Joon said.

With more acting projects starring him, Wi Ha Joon is grateful because his experience is also getting more abundant. "Through this process, I was able to meet great actors and directors and learn a lot of things," said Wi Ha Joon.

Wi Ha Joon also expressed his gratitude, saying, "After 'Squid Game' season 1, I had the opportunity to work on many projects and make my own choices.  It was a time of personal growth, and I'm very grateful for that."

On the other hand, "Squid Game 2" has successfully become one of the most popular dramas of 2024. This drama continues the storyline of season 1 where Seong Gi Hun (Lee Jung Jae) returns to the deadly game to take revenge and face the Front Man.

However, soon after the release of "Squid Game 2", controversy apparently arose in Vietnam. Local media outlet Tuoi Tre Online criticized the Netflix drama for dialogues referring to the Vietnam War. The media outlet called it inappropriate and offensive to Vietnamese audiences.
