Kim Sae-ron, a South Korean actress who was found dead at home last Sunday February 16, 2025, left behind a million-dollar debt. The famous actress, who was one of the protagonists of “Hunting Dogs”, a Netflix series, would owe an exorbitant amount to her former agency, known as Gold Medalist.

To the surprise of fans, the young woman had an outstanding debt of 700 million won. Sae Ron was involved in a car accident in 2022 in Gangnam-gu, an upscale neighborhood in central Seoul, while driving under the influence of alcohol.

The star crashed her car into an electrical transformer, causing damage to local businesses and homes. As a result, the actress was forced to pay compensation payments, as well as penalties for violating her contract with her agency.

As a result, she lost advertising and appearances in dramas due to the scandal that shocked the country. The international celebrity reportedly asked for more time to pay off the debt, claiming to be facing financial difficulties, promising full reimbursement to the company.

The contract with her former agency ended in December 2022 and Kim ended up failing to fulfill the promise. The atmosphere became heavy when she went from fame to an ordinary life, as an anonymous person, working in coffee shops and drama schools to earn a living and survive.

The company sent a formal notice demanding payment, but still received no response. Last weekend, one of the friends who was going to meet the TV personality came across the unfortunate scene while visiting his home and immediately called the police.

According to the Yonhap news agency, the authorities found no evidence of a crime. On his official Instagram account, Sae-ron made amends: “I caused harm to many people, including merchants, citizens, and those who repaired the damage. I should have acted more carefully and responsibly, but I couldn’t. I sincerely apologize.”
