South Korean singer and variety show star Kim Jong-kook surprisingly announced his imminent wedding. In a lengthy handwritten letter posted on his official fan forum, he announced his plans for a private wedding in Seoul.

"I'm getting married," wrote Kim Jong-kook, as reported by the Korea Herald, on Monday August 18, 2025. "My wedding will be attended by family and close friends, in the near future," he said. This announcement came just after Kim celebrated his 30th anniversary in the Korean entertainment industry.

He jokingly stated that instead of releasing an album in his 30th year, he would have chosen to marry his "soulmate." The identity of Kim's bride-to-be has not been revealed. Last May 2025, Kim purchased a luxury apartment in Gangnam, Seoul, which he described as his "newlywed home."

Kim first made his breakthrough as part of the duo Turbo in 1995, before embarking on a solo career. He eventually won the Artist of the Year award from all three major Korean television stations in 2005—making him only the second artist to achieve this since the 1980s.

Fans abroad know Kim best from SBS's "Running Man," where he has been a main cast member since 2010. The variety show has become a global hit, especially across Asia. His fitness-focused YouTube channel, Gym Jong Kook, has also amassed 3.2 million subscribers since its launch in 2021.
