Son Ye Jin shared her acting experience as a mother after giving birth at the press conference for her latest film 'No Other Choice' which was held in Yongsan, Seoul, on Tuesday August 19, 2025 morning.

The film marks Son Ye Jin's return to the big screen after a three-year absence and marks her first project since giving birth to her first child in November 2022. In the film 'No Other Choice,' Son Ye Jin plays Miri, a wife and mother in a family.

She revealed that her real-life experiences as a mother greatly helped her understand the role. "I've played mothers or divorced women before, but the real-life experience of giving birth is truly incomparable," she said. "In this film, I play the mother of a slightly older child, and my presence with my child on screen feels very natural." '

No Other Choice' tells the story of Mansoo (played by Lee Byung Hun), a corporate employee whose life was nearly perfect until he was suddenly fired. To protect his hard-earned family and home, Mansoo embarks on a personal "war" to find a new job.

Son Ye Jin plays Miri, Mansoo's wife, who displays a motherly side and a strong sense of responsibility towards her family. "Motherhood is an important part of Miri's character. She wants to be a warm and responsible mother.

The experience of giving birth made it easier for me to relate to this role," she added. Son Ye Jin, who married actor Hyun Bin in March 2022 and gave birth to a son in November of the same year, called her return to acting like “starting out as a rookie.”

This film marks her first big-screen work since 'The Negotiation' (2018) and her first acting project since the drama 'Thirty-Nine' (2022). She admitted she was drawn to the project because she wanted to work with director Park Chan Wook and see Lee Byung Hun's acting firsthand on set.

"After reading such a powerful script, I was a little doubtful about whether I could pull it off. But I felt like if I passed up this opportunity, I would regret it. So, I decided to take the role," said Son Ye Jin.
