Singer and producer MC Mong (real name Shin Dong Hyun) strongly denied allegations of involvement in prostitution. In an emotional interview, he broke down in tears and expressed his frustration over the slander targeting his personal life.
On February 5th, MC Mong defended himself to Ilgan Sports . "Who would use their own girlfriend as a prostitute?" he said, his voice trembling. MC Mong explained that the woman he was with was his girlfriend, a regular citizen.
"She graduated from Hongik University in the arts and works as a painter. She's not a celebrity, just a normal, mentally healthy person," he explained. He added that they met on a blind date in January of last year and have an age difference of over 10 years.
The allegations stemmed from a video on Ilyo Sisa's YouTube channel, which was later picked up by TV Chosun's "Shintong Bangtong" on February 4, 2026. The video featured CCTV footage from an elevator in an apartment building.
The video's narrative claimed that a resident reported alleged prostitution, prompting the management to investigate and release the footage. The footage shows three women and one man in an elevator.
Claims have emerged that the man is an acquaintance of MC Mong, while the women are female entertainers. MC Mong provided detailed clarification regarding the individuals in the video. The man is a younger male friend whom he knows well.
The three women are his girlfriend, his girlfriend's friend, and the remaining individual was an individual he had just met at the location. He explained that they only hung out for 2-3 hours.
At that point, he decided to resign from his company (One Hundred) and suddenly had to speak with Chairman Cha Ga Won, so his friends left the area to give him some privacy. MC Mong condemned the report as malicious.
"I don't know what their past work was. But is it right to spread rumors of prostitution and talk about my girlfriend like that? Isn't reporting suspicions without evidence very evil?" he said, crying. On social media, MC Mong also questioned the legality of obtaining the CCTV footage.
He argued that CCTV footage can only be released with the assistance of the police if an official report is filed, but he claimed no report was ever filed against him by apartment residents. "That was an illegally obtained video. It doesn't show us entering the house, but all of us leaving together," he wrote.
He also accused certain parties of manipulating the media to damage his reputation. In addition to denying the prostitution rumors, MC Mong also dismissed other rumors, such as an affair and allegations of illegal drug prescriptions.
He stated that he would take firm legal action. "I will sue the party (with the initials Cha) who obtained and distributed this illegal video to journalists, as well as all journalists who used the video without verification," he concluded.
