Song Kang and Lee Jun Young clash in tvN's latest Korean drama, " Four Hands, Two Sonatas." Premiering Saturday night (August 29, 2026) on the cable channel, the drama officially entered the ratings race.
The first episode of Korean drama 'Four Hands, Two Sonatas' achieved a national rating of 3.4%, according to Nielsen Korea. Already above the so-called "flop threshold" of 3%, it's a promising start.
The premiere rating for Four Hands, Two Sonatas was even higher than the opening episode of Spooky In Love when it aired on July 18, 2026. At that time, the Park Eun Bin and Yang Se Jong drama achieved a rating of 3.049%.
Spooky In Love's ratings continued to rise until its final episode. The drama ended with its highest rating of all time at 7.8%. If Four Hands, Two Sonatas could captivate viewers, this drama has a good chance of following in the footsteps of Spooky In Love.
Or even higher, as Lee Jun Young's JTBC drama Reborn Rich reached double-digit ratings a few months ago. In the Saturday night ratings race, Four Hands, Two Sonatas unfortunately remains in last place. A Bona Fide Killer still leads with a 9.9% rating; followed by Flex X Cop 2 with a 7.9% rating.
Four Hands, Two Sonatas tells the story of friendship, love, rivalry, and the growth of teenagers who meet at Korea Arts High School, a school filled with musically gifted students, including the main characters.
The first student is Kang Pio (Song Kang), an exceptionally talented pianist and perfectionist. He consistently ranks first in his academics. He also possesses natural talent and a strong inner drive to pursue a career as a pianist.
Initially, Kang Pio had no competition at all. Therefore, all the students were confident that he would sweep the world's best piano competition. That was until another student named Choi Jeongyo (Lee Jun Young) appeared.
Like Kang Pio, Choi Jeongyo is also a genius pianist who, due to poverty, chooses to neglect his talent. He has long admired Kang Pio. Their meeting creates unexpected friction and conflict that will be the main focus of this drama.
Between the two main characters, there's also a girl named Hong Jae In (Jang Gyuri), a viola major. She has extremely sensitive hearing and has become close friends with Kang Pio. You can watch "Four Hands, Two Sonatas" on Netflix.
