Chinese tech giant, Xiaomi is gearing up to launch a new product in India on April 1, according to an official teaser. Going by the teaser's title, "Let's Tab," we expect the Chinese tech giant to introduce a new tablet in the country. As per the reports, Xiaomi is likely to announce its Mi Pad 5 model which was first launched in China last year 2021.

While Xiaomi has cemented its place in the smartphone and wearable segments, it currently has no tablets on offer in the Indian market. The Chinese tech company tested its luck with the Mi Pad several years ago but didn't receive good response. However, due to the pandemic, there is a growing demand for tablets, especially budget devices for students. Xiaomi aims to tap into this market.

The Xiaomi Mi Pad 5 has an 11.0-inch QHD+ (1600x2560 pixels) LCD display with a 120Hz refresh rate, a 16:10 aspect ratio, a 240Hz touch sampling rate, and 500-nits of peak brightness. The device had a modern and sleek design with a rectangular screen, proportional bezels, top-center front camera, and TUV Rheinland's low blue light certification. On the rear, it sports a single snapper.

As far as the cameras are concerned, the Xiaomi Mi Pad 5 sports a single 13MP (f/2.0) camera on the rear side. On the front, it has an 8MP (f/2.0) selfie snapper. The rear and front cameras support 4K and 1080p videos at 30fps, respectively. The tablet draws fuel from an 8,720mAh battery which supports 33W fast-charging.

Under the hood, the Xiaomi Mi Pad 5 is powered by an octa-core Snapdragon 860 processor, paired with 6GB of RAM and up to 256GB of storage. At the heart, it boots Android 11-based MIUI 12.5 OS out of the box. Connectivity options on the tablet include 5G, Bluetooth 5.0, dual-band Wi-Fi, GPS, and a Type-C port.

As for official pricing and availability in India, the Xiaomi Mi Pad 5 commands a price-tag of CNY 1,999 (nearly Rs. 23,000) for the 6GB/128GB model and CNY 2,299 (roughly Rs. 26,400) for the 6GB/256GB configuration. The tablet is offered in Pearl White and Cosmic Gray color options.
