British band Shakatak recently released an official statement regarding their intention to firmly prove NewJeans' plagiarism. On Thursday July 18, 2024, British music label WISE MUSIC GROUP filed a lawsuit accusing NewJeans of plagiarizing Shakatak's song 'Easier Said Than Done' for their new song, Bubble Gum '.

The Shakatak band label demanded that NewJeans stop using the song, report profits, change rights holders, provide written guarantees, and pay damages to Shakatak. In response, ADOR, NewJeans' agency, denied the plagiarism claims and sent a reply to WISE MUSIC GROUP, asking for evidence to support the allegations.

Then on Friday July 19, 2024, Shakatak released an official statement on their social media channels in response to ADOR's request. The statement revealed that WISE MUSIC GROUP is still investigating the case and has even hired a music expert to help prove their allegations.

"To all our fans and friends in Korea, thank you for all your comments about the use of 'Easier Said Than Done' in some of our recent songs," wrote the band Shakatak as quoted from the X account @SHAKATAK_UK. They added, "Our company, Wise Music Group, is handling the case and has hired a music expert to handle this further. We will continue to update you."

The statement expressed their determination to prove the suspicion that NewJeans' song 'Bubble Gum' had plagiarized the song 'Easier Said Than Done'. Previously, the Shakatak band included several points in their lawsuit, such as the composition of the two songs having the same rhythm and tone, as well as having a similar melody. In addition, both 'Bubble Gum' and 'Easier Said Than Done' use similar electric guitars and bass.

When compared, both songs can prove that their rhythmic development is the same. The tempo of 'Easier Said Than Done' is around 104 BPM, while 'Bubble Gum' is around 105 BPM. In response to ADOR’s request for a credible analysis report, Shakatak indicated their willingness to prove their claims by hiring music experts.
