Donald Trump shocked the world after being hit by a bullet that tore his ear while campaigning for the US Presidential Election in Pennsylvania on July 13. Previously, the Pew Research Center released a survey stating that 44% of respondents would vote for Trump if the presidential election were held now.

But whoever wins will certainly have an impact on the lives of many people, not only in America but also abroad. Trump himself was named the Republican presidential candidate at the party's national convention. Will his policies be different from Joe Biden's if elected President of the United States?

One of them is the war between Russia and Ukraine, Donald Trump has long criticized the US military aid policy worth hundreds of trillions of rupiah given to Ukraine since the Russian invasion in 2022, reported Detik .

Trump even openly praised Russian President Vladimir Putin, promising to end the war within 24 hours if re-elected. It did not specify how he would end the war, but the statement raised concerns that Trump would pressure Ukraine to hand over its territory to Russia.

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, a Trump ally, said Trump would "not give a cent" to Ukraine if he is elected. The comments came during Orban's visit to Trump in Florida, US, in March. "I will not provide [aid] unless Europe starts to level the playing field," Trump said when asked about Orban's remarks.

Another issue is the US’s status in NATO. The North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), a military alliance of 32 nations, including the US, UK, Germany and France, has been a frequent critic of Trump. Throughout his presidency, Trump has repeatedly threatened to withdraw the US from NATO if other member countries fail to meet the target of spending 2% of GDP on defense.

Trump said he would not protect a country that "doesn't pay" and would encourage Moscow to do "whatever they want" to the country. Immigration leading to deportations is also a major issue for both Biden and Trump. Trump has said he would begin the largest domestic deportation operation in American history on his first day back in office.

"In addition to seeking to deport millions of unauthorized immigrants, many of whom have lived in the U.S. for decades, Trump is also seeking to reduce legal immigration," said Doris Meissner, an expert at the Washington, D.C.-based Migration Policy Institute. What about the Palestine-Israel conflict? Trump is known as a vocal supporter of Israel and its right-wing government.

He overturned decades of official US policy by announcing the US recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, and moving the US embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. FYI , the Trump administration supports Jewish settlements in the occupied West Bank which most of the international community considers illegal under international law, although Israel disputes this.

But some believe Trump has held a grudge against Benjamin Netanyahu since the 2020 US presidential election, when the Israeli prime minister called to congratulate Biden while Trump was still contesting the election results.

Even after the Oct. 7, 2023 attacks, Trump said Netanyahu was "unprepared" for a Hamas attack and called Lebanon's militant Islamic group Hezbollah "smart." This inevitably sparked anger among Republican supporters. What other issues do you think will be important if Trump wins the election?
