BTS's J-Hope donates to families of Jeju Air plane crash victims. National disaster association Hope Bridge revealed that J-Hope has donated 100 million won to the families left behind by victims of the Jeju Air plane crash on December 29, 2024.

As reported by Dispatch on Thursday January 2, 2025, J-Hope personally expressed his condolences to the victim's family and revealed that he immediately donated after hearing the news. "After hearing the news of the accident, I decided to donate to provide assistance to the victim's family," said J-Hope.

Debuting in 2013, J-Hope is known as one of the K-Pop idols who actively donates to people in need. In 2023, the BTS boy group rapper donated 100 million won to areas badly affected by heavy rains. In addition, he is also a member of the Hope Bridge Honor Club, a group that consistently donates to help disaster victims.

On the other hand, the Jeju Air plane crash that occurred on December 29, 2024 left deep sorrow for the families of the victims and the nation of South Korea.  The flight incident became one of South Korea's deadliest plane crashes, killing 179 of the 181 people on board.

The Jeju Air plane crash occurred at Muan International Airport located in Jeollanam-do, South Korea. The plane is believed to have experienced engine problems after hitting a flock of birds, reported by the Korea Herald. The pilot issued a 'mayday' warning before attempting to land.

Unfortunately, the plane landed at high speed, leaving the runway and bursting into flames after hitting a concrete wall. Following the accident, a number of major events and concerts in South Korea were canceled out of respect for the victims. New Year's celebrations were also not held amidst the mourning period set for December 29, 2024 to January 4, 2025.

Meanwhile, a number of South Korean artists have joined in providing assistance to the families of the victims of the accident. In addition to J-Hope, actors Im Siwan, Jin Lovelyz, Dindin, and comedian Park Na Rae also donated to ease the grief of the families of the victims of the Jeju plane crash.
