It cannot be denied that the two things that always make the public most curious about the Mission: Impossible film are Tom Cruise's figure as a true action film star and his crazy actions that are always done in the film.

Well, in the latest film titled Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning, Tom Cruise once again shows his totality through a series of extreme scenes, one of which is infiltrating a submarine in very limited conditions.

Tom Cruise shared a behind-the-scenes story while appearing on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. He revealed that he had to dive with almost no vision at all. " A lot of times I couldn't see because of the glare.

So I had to dive in almost blind, spend a lot of time on set learning the moves while we were also adjusting the shots. And when I was shooting, it was really hard for me ," said Tom Cruise, quoted on Thursday May 22, 2025.

“ When wet, my wetsuit can add about 125 pounds (about 56 kilograms). So, the training and physical preparation that I did to be able to do all of this took years ,” he said further. Underwater action is no joke. For many people, such scenes can be a nightmare, which can end in drowning.

In his interview with Empire , Tom Cruise explained that he could only stay in a diving suit for 10 minutes before symptoms of hypoxia (lack of oxygen) began to appear. “ I breathe in carbon dioxide myself. It builds up in the body and affects the muscles.

So I have to combat all of those effects while staying focused and present in the moment ,” Tom Cruise said. Another highlight scene in The Final Reckoning is when Tom Cruise hangs from the wing of a classic plane (biplane).

" I didn't expect the air pressure from the propeller to be that strong, to the point where I couldn't breathe. The air particles from the propeller were as fast as the speed of sound! It felt like the craziest weightlifting workout I've ever experienced ," said the actor born in July 1962.

Tom Cruise continued, " Have you ever felt like you're lifting a weight until you can't lift it anymore? Well, that's what it feels like after a few minutes on the wing of a plane. Because the movement is also very extreme - the speed goes up and down from 150 to 230 km/h, "

" We also played with zero gravity (zero-G), so I had to be able to float between two wings while trying to move up and down. It was really crazy ," he concluded. Over the years, Tom Cruise has pushed his limits to perform the craziest stunts in the Mission: Impossible franchise .

Director Christopher McQuarrie, who has directed the last four films in the series, is probably no stranger to Cruise's ambitions, including the airplane stunts that appear in Mission: Impossible 8. But apparently, a different reaction came from professional wing walkers, aka stuntmen, who are used to performing on airplane wings.

When they were asked to get involved to help with the action, the wing walkers actually warned Tom Cruise. According to them, the plane stunts in Mission: Impossible 8 were too dangerous, even for their standards who were used to being on the outside of planes.

Instead of listening to their warnings, Tom Cruise seeks out another group of wing walkers for approval. This shows how much Tom Cruise goes out of his way to do extreme stunts in his films, but at the same time underlines how dangerous the stunts on the plane are.

The final film of Ethan Hunt's adventures has been showing in Indonesian cinemas starting May 21, 2025. If you are a fan of heavy-duty action films, now is the time to witness the final mission in the Mission: Impossible franchise.
