The latest South Korean film, 'My Daughter Is A Zombie', has officially been named the highest-grossing film of 2025. The film stars Jo Jung Suk and Choi Yu-ho. RiThis was stormed by local audiences and dominated the box office.

According to data from the Korean Film Council, reported by EDaily on Sunday (August 17, 2025), the film My Daughter Is A Zombie has been watched by 4,310,000 viewers as of August 16, 2025.

This family comedy film has managed to beat the Hollywood film F1 which is currently still the choice of local South Korean audiences. The box office success of "My Daughter Is A Zombie" has brought new hope to South Korean cinemas, which are reportedly in a crisis.

Since the COVID-19 pandemic, moviegoers have experienced the worst decline in 21 years. According to The Korea Times, cinema ticket sales in South Korea have now dropped to 100 million tickets per year. Film production has also plummeted to 20 films per year, down from around 60.

Due to this phenomenon, the South Korean Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism distributed 4.5 million discount coupons to entice moviegoers back to the cinema. The success of My Daughter Is A Zombie is clearly a major boost amidst this crisis.

My Daughter Is A Zombie tells the story of Jung Hwan (Jo Jung Suk), a father who really loves his daughter, Soo Ah (Choi Yu Ri). But unfortunately, his son was infected with a virus that turned him into a zombie.

Wanting to escape the troubles of the big city, Jung Hwan takes Soo Ah to a rural area. The house in the village is where Jung Hwan lived as a child. Can they escape the drama after moving to the countryside? This film is also currently showing in cinema.
