Stray Kids became the first K-Pop idols to appear as full members on the Met Gala carpet. They appeared wearing designs from Tommy Hilfiger. Eight Stray Kids members stole the attention on the 2024 Met Gala carpet, New York, Monday June 5, 2024, United States time.
The JYP Entertainment K-Pop group appeared wearing suits and coats in shades of blue, red and white with gold accents. "Representing Tommy Hilfiger as eight members for the first time on the Met Gala carpet is truly a rare and honorable moment for us," said Felix, as reported by Vogue.
This year the Met Gala has the theme Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion, featuring 250 items from the Costume Institute collection. This year's dress code is The Garden of Time. The presence of Changbin, Lee Know, IN, Hyunjin, Seungmin, Felix, Han, and Bangchan becomes new history.
In previous years, BLACKPINK's Rosé at the 2021 Met Gala, BLACKPINK's Jennie at the 2023 and 2024 Met Gala, and NCT's Johnny have stood on the Met Gala carpet. However, they came alone without any other members of their group. When they first set foot on the Met Gala carpet, Stray Kids wore an oversized black coat.
After taking off their fur coats, they appeared in Hilfiger suits complete with gold pins on their left lapels. "This is our first time. We are very happy to be here. Each member is considered to have a unique style. "Designing the eight Stray Kids members' outfits for the Met Gala carpet experience was an extraordinary thing. One of the special things about Stray Kids is that each member has an individual style and they all complement each other perfectly," said Tommy Hilfiger.
