One by one, the cast and potential cast members for Netflix 's live-action drama, Solo Leveling, are being revealed. The latest is actor Lee Hong Nae, previously noticed by viewers in the TVING drama, The Legend of Kitchen Soldier, who has been tapped for the role of Kang Tae Sik.
According to South Korean media outlets such as Ilgan Sports and XportsNews on Monday (July 20, 2026), Lee Hong Nae's offer was confirmed by his management. However, no final decision has been made as of today.
"He has received an offer to star (in the live-action Solo Leveling), but nothing has been decided yet," they said in a brief statement. In the Solo Leveling universe, Kang Tae Sik is a B-rank hunter in the Surveillance Division of the Korean Hunters Association.
He's originally a villain in the story. News of Lee Hong Nae's casting emerged after he appeared in Netflix's latest Korean drama, The East Palace. The streaming platform with the red logo often casts familiar faces from their previous series.
Byeon Woo Seok is the only actor confirmed for the live-action Solo Leveling. He will play the main character, Sung Jin Woo. This will be the 1991-born actor's first original project with Netflix.
Previously, Netflix aired the tvN original series Lovely Runner, which also starred Byeon Woo Seok and propelled him to fame. Besides the two names above, some of the stars cast for Solo Leveling include Han So Hee (playing Cha Hae In), Kang You Seok (playing Yoo Jin Ho), Kang Mina, Rain, and Lee Sung Min.
Han So Hee is a Netflix favorite, with several original series under her belt, including My Name and Gyeongseong Creature. Kang You Seok previously appeared in When Life Gives You Tangerines. All names have not yet been confirmed for their involvement.
